Welcome!
I am a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics at Sam Houston State University. Before that, I held a visiting position at Willamette University, Oregon. I completed my Ph.D. in mathematics at the University of Florida in 2023, under the supervision of Arnaud Marsiglietti.
My primary research interests lie at the intersection of probability and analysis with a special focus on functional inequalities and extremum problems involving convexity. I am particularly interested in probability on discrete structures. My recent work has focused on phase transition phenomenon in coalescent and branching processes, and discrete log-concave distributions with applications to convex geometry and information theory. See Research to learn more about my work. And, here is a reasonably up-to-date version of my CV.
I am also a mentor in the National Math Alliance. This semester, I am offering a reading project titled "Introduction to Probability" (click here for more details). In Spring 2024, I offered a reading project titled "Brunn-Minkowski Inequality". I plan on running reading programs on various topics in the coming semesters. At some point, I will open a new section on this webpage devoted to project related stuff.
Other than math teaching and research, I like competition-style math problems and the history of mathematics. Check out Michael's YouTube channel and AoPS online if you are interested in cool math stuff.
